Temporary AIGC Scholars Program Clerk – Gates Millennium Scholarship Program

The American Indian Graduate Center is a non-profit organization that administers scholarships and fellowships nationally to American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing post secondary education.  AIGC Scholars is one of four partner organizations administering the Gates Millennium Scholarship. AIGCS is seeking candidates for the position of Temporary Program Clerk.

Responsibilities: The Temporary Program Clerk will be responsible for performing intermediate data entry and work-processing activities, including merging of letters, data entry and data retrieval.  Maintains confidential student files, utilizing web based systems and processes required by the Gates Millennium Scholars program. Verifies student enrollment documents, processes student documents, retrieves student records and provides technical assistance to students, during peak periods.  Ongoing communications with students include email, telephone and in person. Provides support as requested to department staff. Prepares internal and external, written communications, as assigned, distributes organizational publications. Communicates necessary information, regarding student records, to appropriate staff. Performs other duties, as required. The temporary time frame for this Program Clerk position is 5-6 months.

Requirements: Associate’s degree required, plus six months related office or clerical experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, customer service and records management skills.  Interest in working with diverse populations, travel required.  American Indian or Alaska Native preference.

Compensation: $11.00 per hour

Duration:  5 – 6 months
