Doctorate of Occupational Therapy
I am a second-year Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) student. I entered the profession of occupational therapy with a passion to empower, guide, assist, and support consumers by providing client-centered care through integrated clinical practice, education, and research.
Engaging in clinical experiences and joining professional organizations allows a student to unite with other professionals to learn information necessary to provide effective and client-centered care. I have completed clinical experience in areas of mental health, pediatric health care, and geriatric care by partaking in clinical internships. I will be continuing my education in Ayr, Scotland to complete a three-month internship that focuses on pediatric mental health.
I have sought out roles within both student and professional organizations to enrich my personal development and to contribute to the enhancement of the profession. My roles in professional and student organizations include: membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the Student Occupational Therapy (SOTA), the Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon (OTAO), and Pacific University’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Ambassador Club.
As a student and future professional, I am dedicated to advancing the profession by collaborating with other students and professionals alike. Moving into my last year of academia, I am eager to take on the challenges and learning opportunities that I will face while pursuing my OTD.
