I grew up in Southern California and moved to Southern Illinois to complete my Bachelor’s Degree. I graduated last year with my degree in Economics. While pursuing this education, I served as a volunteer for about 7 years at For Kids Sake and the Dayemi Tariqat. For Kids Sake raises money for schools and orphanages in Bangladesh, whereas the Dayemi Tariqat is a non profit that educates and promotes sustainability and food security in Southern Illinois. While doing this work, I was offered a position on the City of Carbondale’s Sustainability Commission, where I’ve been able to promote sustainability in our region by working on a Sustainability Action Plan. As of this point, I’m pursuing my MBA with an emphasis in Sustainability full time while also working full time as the Program Director for Solarize Southern Illinois, a non profit that educates and promotes solar power in a 6 county region in Southern Illinois. My future goals are to be the Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Carbondale.
